GISA Wines takes its name from the patriotic nature of the owner, making wine from fruit that comes exclusively from South Australia.
GISA is an acronym for Geographic Indicator South Australia. The 'GI' is the region from which fruit is sourced, and this is a legal requirement when making statements as to the origin of the wine on the label.
Our wines are made using a combination of traditional winemaking techniques -basket pressing and hand plunging - and the best modern practices to capture the character of the grapes.
GISA is a virtual winery, which means it does not own a winery per say. Rather we make wine at several different wineries that are best suited to the production techniques that match the desired end result for individual wines.
We aspire to make interesting, premium wines which reflect the regional character and grape variety. GISA wines are made in very limited quantities.
