GISA ROUND BAROSSA VALLEY SHIRAZ
Premium Shiraz Fruit from Lights Pass at the northern end of the Barossa Valley has been combined with a small parcel of from Cygnet River Fruit from the Eastern end of Kangaroo Island to produce a wine that has the hall marks of true Barossa Shiraz with the elegance and intrigue of some cooler climate region.
Both the Barossa and Kangaroo Island fruit saw similar winemaking practice with the use of open fermentation and small batch treatment. Kept separate until blending to allow for the correct balance to be struck between components, the final blend is better then the sum of its parts. The Barossa parcel was rested in old 2 & 3 year old American Oak for 18 months to impart the typical vanillin profile common in wine from the region. Whilst the Kangaroo Island parcel saw time in older French oak that offers a tighter and more elegant tannin structure.
The resultant wine is a balanced wine with all the traditional cues of a Barossa Shiraz with a hint of intrigue.
True to its roots, it is a ripe, rich, full flavoured Barossa Shiraz from what will prove to be a good vintage.
An attractive wine now with layers of fruits complexity, full and round in the mouth, yet soft approachable tannins and good length.
