
SOUTH AUSTRALIA is located in the central south of Australia. Bordered to the south by the pristine Antarctic / Southern Ocean, it carries the mantle of being the "driest state in the driest continent''. The State is home to numerous very unique wine regions, each with their own geographic, geological and climatic conditions.
Producing approximately 50% of the total wine made in Australia, South Australia boasts several premium wine regions, including: Adelaide Hills 20 km East of Adelaide, Barossa Valley 70 km North East of Adelaide, Clare Valley 70 km North of Adelaide, Coonawarra 350 km South East of Adelaide. McLaren Vale 45 km South of Adelaide, Padthaway 250 km South East of Adelaide, the Riverland 250 km East North East of Adelaide.
Each of these areas grows a range of varieties. Some winemakers produce exceptionally good wine from regions that are not generally regarded as ideal for the growing of the variety which is testament to the wine making ability of the individual.
